Irish Open 2022 Results

The Championships of Ireland started off with a bit of a wet weekend, but spirits were still high for the pinnacle of the Irish Croquet Calendar! Handicap singles and Handicap Doubles started on Saturday through till Monday with some excellent games played by experienced and new players alike!

All the other events began during the week as the weather turned to fantastic sunshine. The Summer BBQ and Croquet Games Evening on Wednesday proved a huge success, not only for the quality of the food but also for the turnout for the games evening and the fun had by all! It was an absolute pleasure to have the finals day dinner return after two years of not being able to have it.

Special thanks must be given to Simon Williams for maintaining such fantastic lawns and for his immense effort to get them back into great shape after their use for tennis in the weeks before. Also, of course, to Alan Looney (ably assisted by Fiachra Carroll) for managing a very complex tournament and maintaining his calm while leave requests rained in on him!

Last and absolutely not least, a huge thanks goes to Mark McCann and COADY Architects for their sponsorship over the last three Irish Championships. It really makes a difference to the event and is greatly appreciated by all, not only the recipients!
