Carrickmines welcomed a team of Croquet players from the Rushbrooke Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club near Cork on Saturday April 1st.
Please note that this event will be inaugurated in Carrickmines on the weekend of 30 September/1 October. There will be teams of 4 and the initial format (which may get tweaked for future years in the light of experience) will include both doubles and singles.
Evan Newell and Mark Stephens (both Carrickmines) have been awarded places in the 2017 European Golf Croquet Championship, which will be played at the Real Club de Golf Vista Hermosa, Jerez and the Real Club Pineda, Sevilla, the 24th-28th of May. Simon Williams (Carrickmines) and Patsy Fitzgerald (Kells) await confirmation of Ranking places in the same event.

The 2017 European Golf Croquet Championship will be played at the Villa Hermosa Golf Club, near Jerez in southern Spain, between the 24th and 28th of May. The C.A.I. has two places to award.

The 2016 Irish Open Golf Championship was played in Carrickmines C. & L.T.C on 9th/11th September.
The singles Championship was won by Jack Clingan and the Handicap Doubles by Danny Johnston and Fiachra Carroll.
The two Irish nominees for this event are Patsy Fitzgerald and Kieran Murphy. The Sub is Evan Newell.
The CAI win the Vera McWeeney Trophy, beating the CA 14-10.
Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis club played host to the annual contest between the Croquet Association and the Croquet Association of Ireland for the McWeeney Trophy on August 20-21st. The CA team travelled across the Irish Sea looking forward to trying to win back the trophy in weather conditions that varied between howling gale and pleasant sunshine.
