Well that’s it for the Irish!
The other five guys had placing matches so we all went in for an early start. To be perfectly honest I’m so tired I can’t really remember who came where and who beat who and what the scores were. The only thing I really remember is that Jack Gleeson recorded a great win over Danny. I think this left Danny with the wooden spoon or whatever the croquet term is.
I waited around supporting the others and waiting until my second round match against Dina Saad at five.

The Irish contingent were all knocked out by Eygptians, Aussie wonderkids or Kiwis who eventually won the tournament.
Kieran got through his first round by beating our own Jack Glesson who fought commendably, taking K to three games.
This set up a second round match with Dina Saad, an Eygptian girl who had beaten Danny in the block stages.
After the 3rd appointed weekend there are still many matches waiting to be played.
Would all players please play all outstanding matches before the finals day on August 15th.

The first day of the knockouts was upon us and it was a difficult one for all of us.
Danny was first up against Malcolm Fletcher. Malcolm is only a youngster but he has the potential to be an exceptional player at both forms of the game. This game was a great spectacle, lots of great clearing and hoop running. Danny was happy with his performance but in his own words, " A few mistakes at crucial times" cost him. Malcolm came through in two games, 7-5, 7-3.
Next up was Ben against Duncan Dixon.
